Friday May, 13th
Well I made it to Nashville. My dad and I left Lehi on Friday and drove over 1600 miles to get here. Man, what a loooooong drive! Driving through Wyoming gave me anxiety because everything was so open. People say that when they come west to Utah they feel claustrophobic because of the mountains. Well because that’s all I know I felt exactly opposite. I was just so… open. For some reason that made me so nervous. Nebraska is just as open but I felt more comfortable because it seemed to be more populated. I swear there were no people in southern Wyoming other than in Evanston and Cheyenne. Nebraska was a long drive thought. My dad drove the whole way which I was grateful for but just sitting there started to become painful. I was happy to stop in Nebraska City for the night.

On our second day our destination was Saint Louis, Missouri to see the Gateway Arch designed my Eero Seraanin, and then on to Nashville. The second day was also a very long drive but it was nice to be able to stop for about an hour or so and see the Arch. Very Cool!!! We got into Nashville late but as we came around the bend, for some reason there were fireworks. No literally, of in the distance they were shooting fireworks off over the city. I took that as a sign of good luck. It was like Nashville was welcoming me to the city.
Sunday May, 15th
Yesterday was my dads one and only day to see the city, so after sleeping in a little bit later (which was so nice after being up early the first two days), we headed in to the Capital. I think Downtown Nashville is really easy to navigate but at the same time, it is extremely easy to get lost. We finally found a place to park and were able to go on a narrated tour of the city. While we were waiting for it to start we met a nice couple from Australia who said that they were there to see Bill Anderson and Keith Urban’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Well we thought… why not? How often do you get to see Keith Urban inducted? That’s right… Once! After that things calmed down a bunch. My dad and I went to dinner and then ran back to the hotel for my things, and drove to my “host family’s” home to meet them. I cannot express how incredibly grateful I am to them. I already feel very much at home. Besides the fact that they are so welcoming, they actually live really close to where I’m interning at. I feel very blessed. I can only say that I hope this is an amazing experience. Wish me luck all. Tomorrow is day one.
